Here and there

Here and there

Right now, I’m not sure if we’re here or there.

At this time yesterday, we were definitely here. Boxing Day afternoon and on our way to Cirencester.

On this occasion, we carried right on and onto the M4 to Heathrow.

We had plans.

There had been reports of unusual activity at Heathrow, but we hoped that by the time we arrived, that would have been sorted out.

!

The bag tags EZE-MAD labels weren’t quite as much fun as the MAD-GIG ones we’d had previously, but that didn’t matter as long as they arrived in the same place and at the same time as we did.

“Hola” was the greeting in the unusually empty and strangely enormous plane we boarded, bound for Madrid.

My phone pinged with the details of our connecting flight as soon as I turned off airplane mode. I noted that I hadn’t deleted the previous message with similar information from last February. Oh dear. This is becoming a habit?

We didn’t linger but made our way straight to S16 where a small crowd of people were already waiting.

We boarded an older, more crowded plane for the 11 hour, 40 minute long journey to Buenos Aires.

But a few zzzzzs later we were nearly there.

Or should I say nearly here?

That long journey was the perfect test run for our new Snooze Bands, brought to us by Father Christmas this year. With favourite music, a lengthy playlist from Spotify and a few BBC podcasts downloaded to our phones, we plugged in our phones for the flight and listened and snoozed for eleven hours bliss, thinking of Harald Bluetooth as we went.

Coming into land over the city with the Rio de la Plata beneath, I looked out for a sleek white ship, remembering how we last left Buenos Aires a few years ago.

We are now settled into the Sofitel for the night, loving the gaucho images in the foyer.

There’s one behind each desk, which explains the various shadows in the foreground. I didn’t really feel I could ask them to move the furniture so I could get an unimpeded picture!

Actually, it was those fabulous black and white patterns on their ponchos that I was really after, though they really need a gaucho to set them off, don’t they?

So, here we are, looking out over the city from our 15th floor room. Guess where we’ve planned dinner tonight? (Clue in the link above) Well, we need to check that standards have been maintained, don’t we?
