A strange start
We’re off on our travels again, but this time, with a rather different starting point. We didn’t jump in the car to drive to LHR to fly somewhere.
In fact, we didn’t jump in our car at all. (And no, however much we’d like to, we didn’t simply teleport to our destination!) On Friday morning, we just got up and had breakfast as usual - except of course, I had been awake since 4.30am, thinking of things I might have forgotten, or that perhaps I ought to remember to put into my suitcase when I got up. Of course, we normally pack up and go, which doesn’t allow for such last minute thoughts.
But anyway, we got up, had breakfast and waited. Because, on this occasion, we were going to sail from Southampton and fly home from Copenhagen. That had set us a challenge with our car.
Dave came to the rescue. He drove us to Southampton and will meet us from our return flight and drive us home.
Which is how, on Friday afternoon, we we transported to another, rather familiar setting and within a couple of hours of leaving home we found ourselves in the very comfortable surroundings on board Seven Seas Mariner, feeling ever so slightly discombobulated.
Sometimes one needs that process of a journey to make the mental shift from everyday life to travel mode. Without it, everything felt very strange indeed.
But without a doubt, we’ll get used to it! 🥰
