Saturday morning

Saturday morning

We’re still here in Hotel Montevideo and went down for breakfast this morning as usual.

It being a weekend, it was pretty full and quite noisy. but really, we didn’t mind.

For never has the breakfast buffet been so wonderful.

the pastries more tempting (the pastrychef here is fantastic)

or the mezzaluna more delicious.

I made a small selection of my favourites and returned to my table to order a “natural bowl” to accompany them.

(Sorry, I have used that photo before!)

I even brought a small jar of Dulce de Leche back from the buffet too

even though there was oodles of it inside the banana muffin and I really didn’t “need” more.

But today was different.

Special, even.

Because we woke to the news that we have flights booked home.

Tomorrow!

OK, it’s not such a good routing as the two we cancelled. It’s not on an airline we’ve flown before and business class is only available on the longer, transatlantic section. We can cope with two hours in economy and pretend that we are young again, because we are going home! Tomorrow….🥰

This morning, then, once the check out rush was over, my Hero and I went down to the lobby and he worked with the staff to organise transport to the airport, to get a print out of our travel arrangements and reorganise our “meet and greet” car pickup, because these flights land at LHR Terminal 3, not 5 as we’d anticipated.

The remainder of this morning was spent checking that booking: LATAM to Sao Paolo and then on to LHR, arriving Monday lunchtime. We’ve been assigned decent seats, will have “assistance” throughout (just in case) and enough of a layover in Sao Paolo that we don’t need to worry if we don’t leave here on time.

This afternoon, we’re looking through and choosing tours for the cruise we booked with the credit from our cancelled Madagascar trip. We’re joining dear friends for that, will look forward to fun with them and to visiting some new places as well as some familiar cities. We even hope to meet up with other friends along the way.

The promise of being home in a couple of days is everything and for once, I didn’t cry!

And now...
