Busy doing nothing

Busy doing nothing

Well, that’s not strictly true! We seem to be able to fill our days with all kinds of activity and so far, even I (with the boredom threshold of a gnat) have not been looking for something to do. In particular, I’ve appreciated being able to do whatever I please (within reason!) and so coming across an interesting web link to follow, have lost no time in following it and watching the video.

So when this link dropped into my inbox from Clover, I watched it right away, knowing that I had those Clover Yo-Yo (Suffolk Puff) gadgets in my studio and were I to feel inspired by this tutorial, then perhaps I’d use my time to create a small project: a purse maybe or a little needlecase? After all, I have one or two bits of fabric as well…

I watched the video and was reminded of the “mindless” task of making those little circular yoyos. The perfect way to spend a couple of hours, I thought, sitting in the sunshine with something interesting on the radio. I pulled the bag from my cupboard and opened it up.

Out fell a little collection of blue and white yoyos - tiny ones! A head start, I thought - yes, let’s work on more of that size.

I couldn’t remember which size those yoyos were though - were they small? Or extra small? I looked at the green yoyo maker on which I had written an S and wondered if that would produce a yoyo of slightly less than an inch when finished? The blue and white yoyos I had here were undoubtedly extra small.

But though I could find the heart shaped yoyo maker, the flower shaped yoyo maker and seemingly every variation of yoyo maker available, the extra small yoyo maker was not there. Boo.

At this point, I was losing interest fast. I have no doubt that the thing I was looking for was in another plastic bag in that same cupboard. It was undoubtedly packed together with the small squares of blue and white fabric, a needle and thread and was ready to go.

Except I’d gone off the idea of making yoyos now.

And that’s when I remembered, I have been this way before!
