Keeping out of trouble

Keeping out of trouble

Last evening, whilst looking for some details from a blog post I wrote around this time last year, I came across this post. There on the page were two screenshots I’d taken of CV figures, particularly as they related to the situation as it was then, in October 2020.

Of course, none of us had been vaccinated and we were taking things very cautiously indeed, hoping to keep those cases under control with Christmas on the horizon. I’ve been keeping screenshots of these local figures in my journal, keeping track of the progress of the virus and how it’s affecting our lives. Coincidentally, I had spotted a similar post from the County Council yesterday afternoon and had added it to my October 2021 photographs. I thought it would be interesting to compare the two.

I hadn’t planned to write anything about it here. I’d briefly considered starting a discussion in our local community CV group, but decided against. However, Mary O’s comment on my previous post prompted me to record this here. Perhaps in 2022 we will look back at these figures from October 2021 with interest.

Or horror.

Yes, I know many of us have been doubly vaccinated now, and some are eagerly anticipating their booster jab in the next couple of weeks. There are far fewer hospital admissions and CV-related deaths. We read that the spike in cases in this area is as a result of the errors made by the laboratory in Wolverhampton But nevertheless, I find the current statistics pretty frightening.

All of which is why we’re staying at home right now, keeping out of trouble.
