Wasn't it a happy weekend?  Did you watch it all from start to finish, like me?  Seeing all those phones and cameras in the background of this, one of my favourite pictures, reminded me of a rather interesting conversation I heard on the radio.  Someone was suggesting that those making the journey to be in Windsor this weekend might do best by leaving their cameras in their bags and resist any temptation to view the whole proceedings through a lens.  "The best photographs are in your head," he said.

Funny.  I think I've heard that before!

We watched until the carriage procession, led by the skittery horse, disappeared into the castle grounds and settled back to read the papers and catch up on the Friday evening TV we'd missed whilst out with friends.  Rather later than usual then, when I began to wonder what we might eat.  "Let's go out" said my Hero.  "It's too late to start cooking now".

So we celebrated in the best traditional style, with haddock and chips, eaten up on the common with just a few cows for company.

Yesterday, another cause for celebration.  A strawberry pavlova for Sunday lunch could mean only one thing:  Bettine joined us!
